This looks like better vision of the future than the one we have now.

I like how the wheels look like whitewalls in black and white.

It’s sad to think of all the high speed transit we could have had by now.

Think about that walkway being used when the train is at speed.

Fun fact, it now actually takes longer to get into New York by train than it did 40 years ago. PROGRESS!

In the 1930s we had high-speed rail. There was the M 10000:

And there was the Zephyr:

They could reach speeds of 110 mph.

I believe that the train pictured in this headline was the 20th Century Limited which, in 1938 (over 80 years ago) , could make the trip from New York to Chicago in 16 hours .

While Loewy did have his own studio, his role at the postwar Raymond Loewy Associates was mainly to direct and manage a team of other stylists for ‘his’ automobile designs , which capitalized on the Loewy name.

His prewar efforts, and perhaps other non-automotive designs, were probably more from his pen though.

Much the same as big-name architects, right? Gehry is well known for tossing models of crumpled materials at his team and telling them to ‘ figure it out’
